About the Forest
Established in 1957, the Black River State Forest encompasses approximately 68,000 acres of public land in Jackson County Wisconsin. The landscape is largely due to glaciation during the Ice Age which is responsible for the formation of the buttes, hills, knolls, ridges and pediments that can be found in the forest. Scenic overlooks can be found at several locations along the trails that run through woodlands and rolling terrain.

What to expect

- NEWishOne hooded sweatshirt and commemorative patch when you finish your first 85k. Each subsequent finish you'll receive a patch to add to the sweatshirt.

- Extremely well marked courses.

NEW85k Details
The new 85k distance is a combination of ALL the races. You'll start early and run the 10k course. When you get back from your warmup you'll head out on the 50k course. All that's left is to head back up the ridge and finish your 25k cool down. It really is the best way to familiarize yourself with the Black River Trail Classic and become a local legend of the state forest. There's a 12 hour cut-off for the 85k.
We're keeping the aggressive 12 hour cut-off. In 2023 we had 3 finishers and we're ok with that. If you're looking for a challenge, if you're looking to prove something to yourself, if you're looking to get out of your comfort zone, why not give it a try?
